Please, Smile and Do Your Job

Posted on May 23rd, 2007 by Ranita : Wildly Outspoken Ranita
We have all worked a job that we hate.  We've all quit jobs that we hate.  (Personally, I think that's one of the best feelings in the world... walking out the doors of a place you hated going into for the very last time.)  There are even some of us working jobs that we hate now, for one reason or another.
What I'm going to ask from those of you, stuck in a job you don't want to be in, to please, smile.  Go out on your break and lay in the sun.  Relax.  The warm caress of the sunlight on your face can make all your cares dissapate for at least a moment.
I know, you hate your job.  I know, you have too much to do. But please, trust me.  Take a break.  Breathe.  Relax.  Remember why you're at this job.  Is the reason good enough to justify staying?  No?  Quit.
But more than that.... please, smile, do your job, and don't take out you hatred for your job on me.
I just answer the phones.

Shrek the Third

Posted on May 22nd, 2007 by Ranita : Wildly Outspoken Ranita
Took Heaven to see Shrek this weekend.

Ryan and I will never go to another kids movie, ever, ever, again.

How the hell to parents let their kids get away with some of this crap! Don't get me wrong, his niece Heaven Leigh is anything but, yet all the same, she was the ONLY well behaved child in that theater!!!  There were kids running up and down the isles, yelling, throwing food.....

I couldn't believe it.  There was one child, who ran all the way from the very back row, to the front of the theater, ran around in front of the screen, yelling, waving his arms and carrying on..... the parents did NOTHING.  The poor kid fell down, hurt himself, and bawled his eyes out for almost a minute before the mother got up to go get him.  As soon as he came back inside, he was back to running up and down the steps.

Anyone remember the scene in Mallrats... "That kids is back on the escalator again!!"

What i don't understand is whatever happened to raising your children with manners.... or hell... what happened to manners in the first place?  When i was younger it was please, thank you, yes ma'm, no sir, sit quiet, don't throw food at people, eat your veggies and be respectful to others.

The movie was cute though.  Not as good as the first two, but def. enjoyable.... catch it when it comes out on video.

Zaadz Scholarship

Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Ranita : Wildly Outspoken Ranita
I was up last night, thinking about how to answer the questions for the Zaadz scholarships.  I realized, i wouldn't know what i would do if i wasn't afraid, untill i really understood what I was afraid of.
At that point, Ryan came home from class, and we began talking about it.  He reinforced what I was thinking....
I wouldn't be a very good person if I wasn't afraid.  I'm not afraid of what people will think of me, it's my opinion, and the opinion of the people i love that matters.  If i wasn't afraid of hurting them, or dissapointing them, I would conquer the world.  I'd like to think i would be the kind and empathetic person I am, but lets face it... Fear for those I love is what keeps me from hurting them.
Without fear, I would have no limits on my intelligence or concience.
Is fear such a bad thing?  Would I really want to be completely fearless?
No.

Long Days

Posted on May 16th, 2007 by Ranita : Wildly Outspoken Ranita
Have you ever found yourself sitting at work, with nothing to do?  We all have.  Here's the thing... I don't mind down-time at work, but honestly.... 6 hours of it?  This is a little much for me.  I've already finished the book I was reading (about 100 pages) With about an hour to spare.
Thankfully, I've only another 10 min. to go and then it's time to fight traffic to get home and relax.
My back is killing me.  Thank god for this Tens Unit or I would have drugged myself to sleep by now.... good news is this won't last much longer!
